There is never a better time to waterproof your basement than in the winter. When snow and ice melts you get water and that water can end up in your basement. There are two ways for water to come into your basement and that is through cracks and pores. The older concrete gets, the larger the pores get and the higher your chances are of water intrusion – just because you don’t have water issues now, doesn’t mean you won’t have them tomorrow. While basement waterproofing should be done to every home, here are a few signs you NEED to waterproof your basement now:
- Your basement has a damp or musty smell.
- Your basement has high humidity levels.
- Your basement has a lot of moisture.
- You have condensation on your walls or floor.
- You have water coming in through your wall or floor.
- You have mold or mildew in your basement.
Foundation Armor manufactures three types of concrete sealers that can be used for basement waterproofing. All sealers can be used on poured concrete, cinderblocks, bricks, and anything made with concrete and cement. The outside temperature is not a factor when applying the sealer – as long as the basement temperature is above freezing, the sealer can be applied.
If you have a newly poured foundation, the Armor S1000 or Armor S2000 is perfect. If you have a very wet basement, or an older basement the L3000 is a better choice (it is very reactive and has a 6 hour dry time).
